Choose a first collecting project

For a character-focused collection, begin with Friendships Begin. Fantasy Wonderland offers places and everyday adventures, while Nightmare Night and Hearth’s Warming Eve provide seasonal starting points. Discord!!! is another gallery to compare once you have an idea of the cards you want.

This guide covers those entries in KAYOU’s official US Trading Card Game catalog, checked on 5 November 2026. The specifications and release dates below apply to the cited NA-coded products. Check the package’s language and model when comparing another regional version.

Start with Friendships Begin if a favorite pony is your reason to collect

Friendships Begin has six separate character products, giving you a focused gallery to explore before tackling a larger booster set. Fluttershy’s card list includes Angel and Fluttershy’s Cottage. Applejack’s list includes Apple Bloom, Big McIntosh, Sweet Apple Acres and four titles in the Applebuck Season sequence. A binder page built around one pony and the characters and places in their gallery is an approachable way to get to know the cast.

The other galleries cover Twilight Sparkle, Pinkie Pie, Rainbow Dash and Rarity. If a story catches your attention, use its shared title to find the related cards. Applejack’s four-part sequence, for example, gives you a defined collecting goal within the wider character gallery.

Each character page lists 21 card types across six rarity tiers and a March 2026 release date. That is a catalog count, not a statement of the number of physical cards inside a starter. KAYOU also lists a separate Friendships Begin Bonus Pack gallery with 68 types across nine tiers. Keep it separate from the six character lists when making your checklist.

Explore Fantasy Wonderland for familiar stories and places

Fantasy Wonderland is a good place to explore the world around the ponies. KAYOU explicitly groups cards under everyday moments and day-and-night scenes. The latter includes pairs labeled Golden Oak Library and Carousel Boutique, offering a compact project built around a place rather than a single character.

There is also a story-led route. The official Fantasy Wonderland gallery lists four-part sequences titled The Ticket Master and Party of One. Collecting one sequence gives you a small group to follow in order, while comparing the two views of a familiar place offers a different kind of small collecting project. Those are different reasons to explore the same set, even if the stories are new to you.

KAYOU’s Fantasy Wonderland gallery groups these Golden Oak Library images under Day&Night Scenes. The treehouse composition stays familiar while the pale daytime sky changes to a star-filled night. Both faces print ※SD01-ER01; “-day” and “-night” are gallery labels, not printed identifiers. Check the pictured variant as well as the code when comparing listings.

The cited product has 191 card types across 13 rarity tiers, with five cards per pack and 20 packs per box. KAYOU lists March 2026 for model MLP-KP-HXQJ-001-NA. The gallery heading uses Fantasy Wonderland, while the formal product-name field uses Fantasy Wonderlands; the model is the more precise reference when matching a listing.

Compare Discord!!! when individual cards will decide your choice

Discord!!! has the same headline figures as Fantasy Wonderland: 191 card types, 13 rarity tiers, five cards per pack and 20 packs per box. Those matching totals do not tell you how the cards compare or which set suits your collection.

The official Discord!!! gallery includes Twilight Sparkle (BP02-CR01), pictured with Spike inside a bright pink shape amid flying rocks. Its action-filled composition gives you something specific to compare with Fantasy Wonderland’s Golden Oak Library scenes or Nightmare Night’s moonlit Princess Luna. Start with the individual images you want together in a binder, then record the identifier printed on each chosen face.

The US catalog identifies this product as Version B, model MLP-KP-WXSK-002B-NA. Its release-date field still says TBD, so it does not provide a verified release month for this comparison.

Choose Nightmare Night for festival stories and spooky subjects

Nightmare Night is the seasonal option to explore for festival settings, candy and spooky stories. The official list names a square, a market and candy-related objects, along with Princess Luna and Nightmare Moon. Those subjects offer several ways into the set: a celebration-themed page, a character collection or a short story sequence.

For the story route, the official Nightmare Night gallery lists four cards under Pinkie Pie’s Haunted Kitchen and four under Rarity’s Carousel Boo-tique. Look in the C section for these titles and compare each sequence as a group. The shared names make the related cards easier to find, even when you do not recognize a scene.

KAYOU lists 190 types across 13 tiers for model MLP-KP-MYZY-003B-NA, with five cards per pack, 20 packs per box and a September 2026 release. The page’s separate Version label is A. Keep both identifiers when checking the exact product.

Choose Hearth’s Warming Eve for winter stories and presents

Hearth’s Warming Eve suits a collection built around winter celebrations and gifts. KAYOU’s list includes titles about building a snowpony, decorating a house and a holiday stage. It also contains six character-specific present cards in the TK, or Token, category, giving you a clearly defined group to explore.

If you prefer a narrative, the official Hearth’s Warming Eve gallery lists four cards under Fluttershy and the Discord Dinner. Comparing that sequence with the present tokens helps you decide whether you want to follow one character’s story or assemble a group spanning all six ponies.

The cited model is MLP-KP-NLQH-004B-NA, listed under Version A with an October 2026 release. KAYOU records 197 card types across 14 tiers, including the token category. Its catalog box contains 20 packs of five cards. The official US store also lists smaller retail formats, so check the pack count of the specific item you are considering.
