FoilFox
Buyer Protection and Returns
Last updated October 30, 2026
This policy explains what happens when you buy a card from another collector on FoilFox, and what we do when something goes wrong. It's part of the agreement between you and Old Blue Chair LLC, the Texas company that owns and runs FoilFox (“FoilFox”, “we”, “us”), alongside the FoilFox Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. Sellers agree to it too, through the FoilFox Seller Terms.
1. Who can buy
- You must be 18 or older. You confirm this once, before your first purchase.
- You need a shipping address in the United States.
- You pay by card through FoilFox's checkout, which is run by Stripe, our payment processor. FoilFox never sees your card number.
2. How paying works
2.1 FoilFox collects your payment on the seller's behalf. When your payment goes through, you've paid the seller for that order. Your card statement shows FoilFox.
2.2 The seller isn't paid straight away. The seller's share is held at Stripe and paid out only when the order is released (section 3). If something is wrong, open a claim before then and the release waits until the claim is settled.
2.3 Once you've paid, the order is placed. You can't cancel it yourself, but if the seller doesn't ship in time it cancels and you're refunded in full (section 9).
3. Scan your cards when they arrive
3.1 Your arrival scan is your check. When the package comes, scan each card in the app. It takes seconds and tells you straight away whether it's the card you bought.
3.2 When the seller is paid. An order is released, and the seller paid, at the first of these:
- your arrival scan matches and you tap All good;
- 24 hours after your arrival scan matches;
- 3 days after tracking shows delivery, or, if FoilFox has no delivery update, 14 days after the seller ships;
- for Verified orders: when FoilFox's check passes, before the card is sent on to you (section 8).
If your arrival scan shows a different card, the release waits for your claim.
4. What FoilFox Buyer Protection covers
You're covered when you buy and pay through FoilFox and:
- the wrong card arrives: a different card, version, finish or language from the listing;
- the condition is worse than listed, or the listing didn't show a defect;
- the card was damaged in transit;
- a card is missing from the package;
- the card is counterfeit;
- a tracked package never arrives.
Not covered:
- changing your mind;
- a grade you hoped a card would get. FoilFox and its sellers never promise a grading result from PSA, BGS, CGC or anyone else;
- anything paid for or arranged outside FoilFox;
- a lost untracked envelope. Orders under $20 of cards ship in a stamped envelope without tracking, and the app tells you this before you pay. The other cover still applies to them.
5. How long you have to open a claim
| Problem | When you can open a claim |
|---|---|
| Wrong card, condition, damaged in transit, missing card | Until the order is released (section 3.2). If you don't scan, that's 3 days after tracking shows delivery, or 14 days after the seller ships when FoilFox has no delivery update. Scan when the package arrives so you never run short. |
| Counterfeit | Up to 30 days after delivery, even after the order is released. |
| Not delivered | From 10 days to 30 days after the seller ships, if the package hasn't arrived. Tracked orders only. |
For a Verified order, the same windows run from when FoilFox sends the card on to you (section 8.4).
6. Opening a claim and what happens next
6.1 Open a claim from the order in the app and choose a reason: wrong card, condition worse than listed, damaged in transit, missing card, looks counterfeit, or not delivered. Then add what the app asks for: your arrival scan is attached for you, plus a close-up photo and, for condition, what you see (whitening, scratches, a crease or bend, a print line) and the condition you received.
6.2 Claims use set choices and photos. Keep the card, its sleeve and the packaging until the claim is settled.
6.3 The seller has 2 business days to respond. They can accept a return, offer a partial refund of 10%, 20% or 30% with you keeping the card, or disagree. If the seller doesn't respond in time, your claim is accepted.
6.4 FoilFox decides. After the seller responds, a person at FoilFox decides the claim, usually within 3 business days of having everything needed. We look at the seller's listing and packing scans, FoilFox's own check for Verified orders, your arrival scan and photos, and tracking. A scan result on its own never decides a claim against you or the seller. Possible outcomes:
- refund with a return: you send the card to FoilFox and are refunded (section 7);
- refund, keep the card (section 7.4);
- partial refund: you keep the card and get part of the price back;
- released to the seller: the evidence shows the card arrived as listed;
- sent to FoilFox for a closer look: for counterfeit claims, and for valuable cards where the evidence conflicts.
6.5 Asking us to look again. If you disagree with a decision, you can ask us once, through support@foilfoxtcg.com, to look at it again. Tell us why, and send anything we didn't have the first time, such as new photos or tracking.
6.6 Counterfeit claims. You send the card to FoilFox for a closer look. If it's counterfeit, you get a full refund plus the return postage in section 7.3, and FoilFox keeps the card out of circulation. If it's genuine and as listed, FoilFox sends it back to you at our cost, and the seller is paid.
7. Returns
7.1 Returns go to FoilFox, never to the seller. When a claim is decided “refund with a return”, the app shows you FoilFox's hub address, the carriers it accepts, and your deadline.
7.2 Send the card within 7 days, with tracking, and add the tracking number in the app. Pack it the way it came: sleeve, toploader, padded envelope. If nothing is sent within 7 days, the claim closes and the seller is paid.
7.3 Return postage. You pay the postage when you send the card. Your refund then includes a flat $7.50 toward it, which the seller pays out of the sale. It's never more than what's left of your order's total.
7.4 When you keep the card. You're refunded and keep the card, with nothing to send back, when:
- the card is under $10, or it came in a $1.50 untracked envelope order, because posting it back would cost more than makes sense. We may still ask you to send in a card you reported as counterfeit;
- a card was missing from the package;
- the package never arrived.
7.5 When FoilFox receives your return:
- it's the card you were sent: you're refunded for the card plus the return postage in section 7.3, and FoilFox sends the card back to the seller;
- it's a different card: FoilFox decides whether you're refunded, and may limit your account. If you aren't refunded, we send that card back to you.
8. Verified by FoilFox
8.1 What it is. The seller ships the card to FoilFox's hub instead of to you. We check that it's the right card (version, finish and language) with the FoilFox scanner, and a person checks that its condition matches the seller's listing photos. Then we send it on to you. It isn't grading and doesn't predict a grade.
8.2 When it applies:
- required, and included in the price, when any card in the order is $250 or more;
- your choice for cheaper orders, for $8.99, shown before you pay.
Verified orders take a few days longer, because the card travels to FoilFox first.
8.3 If the card fails our check, the order is cancelled and you get a full refund, including shipping and the Verified fee. The card goes back to the seller.
8.4 After our check passes, FoilFox stands behind the card. If something is wrong when it reaches you, open a claim as usual, within the windows in section 5, counted from when FoilFox sends the card on. FoilFox, not the seller, makes it right.
9. Shipping you can expect
- Sellers must ship within 3 business days of your payment. If they don't, the order cancels itself and you're refunded in full, shipping included.
- Orders of $20 or more in cards ship with tracking.
- Orders of $250 or more in cards need a signature on delivery.
- While the marketplace is in its pilot, an order can include up to $1,000 of cards.
- Your address is shared only with the seller, or with FoilFox's hub for a Verified order, to ship your order. It's removed from the order once the order is complete.
10. Refunds
- Refunds are at the price you paid, never today's market price.
- They go back to the card you paid with. Stripe sends a refund as soon as FoilFox issues it; your bank usually shows it within 5 to 10 business days.
- Sales tax you paid on the refunded part is refunded with it.
11. Card disputes (chargebacks)
11.1 You keep your rights with your card issuer. Please open a FoilFox claim first. It's usually faster, and it's decided on the order's evidence. If you dispute a charge with your bank, FoilFox answers the dispute with the order's evidence.
11.2 We may limit your buying if you dispute a charge for an order that FoilFox has already refunded, or if you file disputes that the evidence shows to be false. We never limit anyone for a dispute made honestly.
12. Use buyer protection honestly
Don't make false claims, send back a different card from the one you received, or keep a card and claim it never arrived. We may refuse a refund, limit your buying, or close your account if you do.
13. Ratings
After an order is released, you can rate the seller with 1 to 5 stars and set reasons: fast shipping, well packed and as described, or slow to ship, poor packing and not as described. There are no written reviews. Rate honestly: nobody may pay or pressure you for a rating, and FoilFox doesn't remove honest ratings because they are negative.
14. Sales tax
Where the law makes FoilFox responsible for sales tax on marketplace sales, FoilFox calculates it at checkout from your shipping address, collects it and pays it to the state. Your receipt shows it as its own line.
15. Reporting a problem
You can report a listing, a seller or a buyer in the app, at support@foilfoxtcg.com or by phone at (469) 305-2620. Listings from high-volume sellers show that number for reports too. For orders from sellers with $20,000 or more of yearly FoilFox sales, the order details show the seller's name, address or state, and a way to contact them, as the INFORM Consumers Act requires.
16. Legal terms
16.1 Each sale is between you and the seller. FoilFox runs the marketplace, collects payment for the seller, decides claims under this policy, and stands behind cards after a passed Verified check.
16.2 Limit on FoilFox's liability. As far as the law allows, FoilFox isn't liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive losses, and FoilFox's total liability to you for all claims about the marketplace is the greater of $100 or the amount you paid FoilFox in fees in the 12 months before the claim arose. This limit never reduces a refund this policy says you're owed, or any liability the law doesn't allow to be limited.
16.3 Disputes with FoilFox.
- Talk to us first. Email support@foilfoxtcg.com with what happened and what you'd like done. We'll try to settle it within 30 days, and neither of us starts a court case before then.
- Small claims. Either of us can take a claim to small claims court, including your local one, if the claim is within its limits.
- Courts. Otherwise, any dispute about the marketplace or this policy goes to the state or federal courts in Dallas County, Texas, and you and FoilFox agree to those courts' jurisdiction.
- Texas law governs this policy and any such dispute, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
Nothing here takes away rights that the law where you live gives you and doesn't allow a contract to remove.
16.4 Changes. We may update this policy. A change that reduces your protection is announced in the app at least 30 days before it applies, and no change ever applies to an order you've already paid for.
